SPECIAL EDUCATION IN PARAGUAY.

Introduction:
Education is an opportunity that should be offered to every person in this world, regardless of one’s level abilities.
Since I started working in education I knew that my inspiration to support children with disabilities was increasing every moment. As a volunteer I had worked for six years in education in my small town.
In Paraguay the number of students with special needs is very high, and just a very small percent have access to education; it is because is normally considered as an irrelevant part of education offered by institutes or schools in Paraguay. I think that people don’t realize that it is a very important key for development in society, simply because people with special needs should have the same opportunity, in all the sectors where people can develop their skills every day, working, studying and having a family.
In fact to achieve those goals people with special needs must also have preparation, therefore, there must be opportunities and professionals to assume this challenge to prepare people that can have a normal and good life, professionals with further understanding of students with disabilities, with intellectual giftedness or talent.
SPECIAL EDUCATION:
In the United States, special need is a term used in clinical diagnostic and functional development to describe individuals who require assistance for disabilities that may be medical, mental, or psychological. For instance, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and the International Classification of Diseases 9th edition both give guidelines for clinical diagnosis.
