Trachoma is a bacterial infection that affects one eyes. This infection is very contagious, which can be passed along by contact with infected eyelids, throat, and nose of infected people. If this infection is left untreated, it may lead to eye blindness. This disease is the leading cause of preventable cause of blindness around the world. The majority of blindness comes from areas of lower class, such as Africa. Earlt treatment can help prevent trachoma complications. The first signs of trachoma will cause mild itching and irritation. The eyes become swollen and pus draing from the eye. The symptoms include eye pain, light sensitivity, discharge from the eye, swelling, and irritated eyelids. This infection is mostly present in poverty areas like africa because there is a lack of sanitstion, clean water, and flies can pass the disease around if it comes in contact with an infected eyes or nose. This infection can also be passed around from living in a crowded area and also sex. Even though approxmiatley 8o millon people have this disease, there are still many ways to treat it. Azithromycin is currently the top rated choice for treatment. A single dosage of twenty mg/kg to one gram. Azithromycin is an azalide, subclass macrolide antibotic. This drug has a greater tissue concentration than a plasma, with a long half-life, which explains why the drug would be top selection. Drugs are not the only treatment, there is also surgical care, teaching cleanliness, enviornmental improvements and also eye drops. Azithromycin comes in the form of an eyedrop as well, avalible fas 1.5 or 1% solution twice daily for 3 days. Tetrscycline is also a good choice. It is excelent for the treatment, but it is not safe for children to use, being as though children are more likely to inherit the disease than parents, this drug is not ideal. This drug is a semi synthetic derivation doxycyline 1-2 times daily for appoximatly 4 to 6 weeks. This drug also causes temporary blurred vision and
