civilization.” (Julius Caesar: Historical Background 2) This made an impact because he got more land for them and opened more opportunities for the people of Rome. When he rose to power he showed the people what a good strong ruler was. He was very brave and went off to war when he was needed. He made the people proud thats why they choose him to be their ruler. He made the people stronger, and was kind to the citizens. How did Julius Caesar rise to power? When he saved that person in the war they started to recognize him. Then slowly he started to grow throughout the community. “He started out in the Military legate.”(Julius Caesar: Historical Background 1) Then when he chased Pompey out of Rome to Egypt they were happy. The Egyptians killed Pompey and gave Caesar the head. Shortly after that he was elected the dictator of Rome. This made the senate mad they feared that they would lose power. What kind of ruler was he? Julius Caesar was a brave strong ruler. He was unsuccessful at times at what he was or wanted to do, like when he tried to capture Pharos. When I say he was strong there are many thing that he done to show that he was strong. For example, “He swam with one hand holding important papers in one hand and his purple cloak in this mouth so it would not be captured by the Egyptians.” (Julius Caesar: Historical Background 4) He would not back down from anything. He was a strong, brave, and courageous ruler. Caesar did not get scared very easily. Later towards the end of his rule he got greedy, and careless. What are Caesars most noted accomplishments? “Caesar conquered most of what now is central Europe. However, much of the conquest was an act of aggression prompted by personal ambition.” (Julius Caesar: Historical Background 2) He had led a three-month expedition to Britain, he did not establish a permanent base there. “Caesar tried to maintain his position legally, but when he was pushed to the limit he led his armies across the Rubicon River, which was automatic civil war. Pompey’s legions were in Spain, so he and the Senate retreated to Brundisium and from there sailed to the East.”(Julius Caesar: Historical Background 3) “Caesar, with no more then 4,000 legionaries, landed in Alexandria; he was presented, to his professed horror, with the head of Pompey, who had been betrayed by the Egyptians. Caesar, back in Rome, celebrated a triumph over Gnaeus Pompey, arousing discontent because triumphs were reserved for foreign enemies.”(Julius Caesar: Historical Background 3) In conclusion When Caesar rose to power, he made a lot of people angry.
He accomplished a lot of land and many great task for Rome. He was killed by people close to him. During his rule he had made people want to kill him. Brutus led the attack on Caesar in March 15, 44BCE. Caesar attended the last meeting of the Senate before his departure, held at its temporary quarters in the regular meeting house of the Senate. “There were sixty conspirators, led by Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus, Decimus Brutus Albinus, and Gaius Trebonius, came to the meeting with daggers concealed in their togas and stuck Caesar at least twenty-three years as he stood at the base of Pompey’s statue. Caesar said in Greek to Brutus, “ You, too, my child?” After his death, all the senators fled, and three slaves carried his body home to Calpurnia several hours later. The conspirators had only a band of gladiators to back them up, while Antony had a whole legion, the keys to Caesar’s money boxes.”(Julius Caesar: Historical Background 5) To me the moral of this play is to watch who you trust you never know who will stab you in the back metaphorically or literally. You need to watch who you trust and what you do. The people who are the most close to you can cause the most harm to you. Even if the don't realize it or if they do. They could be there for you or they could kill
you. You need to watch who you trust and who you would hands would you out your life into. Some people could hurt you when they are there for you. Some people are just plain toxic. They will ruin your life for no reason. Just because they are scared to lose their power. Caesar thought his best friend had his back but he got scared with the rest of the senate and plotted the murder of his best friend and their ruler. Love will make you blind, you can love someone so much you don't want to see the harm they can cause you or anyone else.
