To Begin: Lily became soft and emotional. She had enough sense of safety, and did not lock the door deliberately. She could search on the shelves or look around with ease. (Fig7).
Process: Lily’s actions were smooth. She moved the sand quickly. She separated the sand into two halves, showing more of the blue in middle of the tray, and forming river from left to right.
She first began from the back side: The figures lined up along the river in front of Lily. Flowers, a geese-feeding woman, a God-mother carrying a baby, and a red-crowned crane appeared on the back-left corner. A green skeleton, smoking a cigarette and stretching out the hands, sat in the back part. Isis, a snow monster, a wounded man and Pharaoh were on the other side. The pink dolphin, corals, shells appeared in the middle of the river, it presented that feminine traits was likely to get nurtured and nourished in the river.
Transference and Counter transference: The understanding relationship between Lily and me facilitated our interactions. After she entered the room, she looked at me firstly, and I was watching her warmly, then she smiled shyly. Children could feel the goodliness from the eyes of the mother. I found my love for Lily was like the flowers in the top branches sending out fragrance. An idea floated in my mind -- If I had a daughter like Lily, I would have taken good care of her. Lily faced her terrible mother and had more connection with Great Mother’s nurture and support. I admired her courage. I carefully guarded the space security, holding the horrific monster mother and experience the healing power from Isis.
