Travel Broadens the Mind
Our world is a great mixture of places, people, things, built by humans, or other, created by nature. It is like a huge whirlpool, twirling you in its deep layers of knowledge.

To travel means to discover. To discover new and unknown facts and images, which are so drily described in books and on television. Some people say that there is no difference between visiting a place and reading about it. But imagine what will be the feeling when you read about the beauty of Venice and see some photos of its canals and squares, compared to the one when you are there. When you travel in a boat along 'Canale Grande', inbreathe the salt air and touch the little blue-greenish waves with the top of your toes. Even this little experience imprints a sweet memory in your mind, making you smile whenever it shows on the surface of your thoughts.

To travel means to communicate. To meet lots of different, unique people, which bring with themselves the knowledge for their cultures, traditions, habits, preferences, ideas...They show you their views for life, their likes and dislikes...or even how they prefer to drink their cup of coffee in the morning. And everything has its charming side. And all of it is special, broadens your own sight towards the less or more important things, which surround us.

And all what is left, is to pack our luggage and head to a new journey. To enterprise the world, and discover its tiny little secrets, which make it such a wonderful place to live in.

In Alain de Botton’s essay, “On Habit” and Adam Gopnik essay, “Bumping into Mr. Ravioli” explain the way that individuals can think creatively and express their feelings and thoughts into newer meaning and in-depth ideas. They also explain the way that the human race are so engaged in technology and busyness that they are overlooking what really is important to them in their life. De Botton is worried that many people do not go beyond limitations and need to explore their surrounding more and appreciate what is going on around them. He urges people to use their ‘traveling mindset’ and try to approach their environments in a positive way that they may have never looked at it before. A ‘traveling mindset’ is when one determines how one will interpret and respond to situations when going to new or old surroundings. Gopnik writes about his three-year old daughter, Olivia, who has an imaginary friend named Charlie Ravioli. When Olivia talks about Mr. Ravioli, she always tells her parents that he is always busy working and does not have time to play or talk with her. Gopnik fears that Olivia is feeling lonely and is reflecting her real life into an imaginary presence. They further more explain the way that individuals should start to realize the benefits of human interactions and the exploration of their environment. The expectations of many individuals are sinking because of a lack of knowledge and desire to be one’s self.…

Travelling the world is another way in which worthwhile learning occurs. Travelling the world allows you to see how other people around the world live. When you see how other people in other countries live it can really let you see how fortunate you are and allows you to appreciate the things you have. When you see how other people live it can also open your eyes to see how you could be living your life instead of how you are living your life. You can also see how hard other people work and it can inspire you to work harder in your life. You can also see other cultures or religions and you can appreciate other people’s way of life. One thing is for certain, we only serve to gain from our travels. Two paths await you when you travel. You can leave behind all the comforts of home and set off for a sheltered location that provides all the same comforts available to you at home. Or you can take the second route. Shed your lifestyle, customs, and certainties and escape into a new world that you can fully embrace. Trust me, the second path is always more fulfilling, plus the stories you come home with will be even better than any spa retreat could ever serve up. Travel should be something you learn from as much as to enjoy. Anyone can travel, but smart travelers will approach everything with an open mind and heart that allows them to see the real beauty in the places they set out to explore. Here are some of my favorite travel quotes to get you thinking differently about the way you travel. On Why You Should Travel Experience travel, these are as education in themselves. Euripides He who does not travel does not know the value of men. Moorish Proverb Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe. Anatole France The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. St. Augustine Motivation To Go Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds. Explore. Dream. Discover. Mark Twain Adventure is worthwhile in itself. Amelia Earhart Only those who will…

People have always liked to travel. From the beginning, humans have been interested in expanding their territory or explore new places. It's in our blood, in the stone-age cavemen tended to kill each other for the land, or later, there were the great explorers such as Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus or Vasco De Gamma who almost travel the world. But for us, everyday people, it could just mean a way to break the monotony of life and work. Travelling is a tool, and the purpose of this tool are different for different people.…
