Travel Thailand
My flight arrived in Bangkok after 1 a.m. By the time customs was cleared, baggage was claimed, and a taxi hailed it was past 2am. We still had a half hour drive into Bangkok. I shared a taxi with a Bangkok veteran. He said Bangkok is a city you can get whatever you want anytime you want.
I was looking for sleep at this point after 18 hours in the air and a three hour layover. My cab pulled into my hotel, and I was asleep within thirty minutes. Thailand and half the world away would have to wait until tomorrow.
I woke up excited to be in Asia and Thailand for my first time. I pulled open the curtain in my hotel room and the top picture is what I was greeted with. Wat a view. An urban concrete jungle with crazy four lane highways going this way and that with a beautiful ornate temple, or wat, in the middle.
This is a common view in Bangkok. The town is a raging metropolis with horrendous traffic, smog, and buildings upon buildings. Interspersed in the madness are over 400 Buddhist Temples. Each one is more amazing than the next with bright colors of red and gold, intricate detail, and golden statues of Buddha inside.
My taxi driver from the night before offered to take me around the next day. I accepted because it is always nice having a guide the first time you are in a country, especially when it only costs $7.00. He picked me up around 11:00 a.m. the next day, and we spent a lot of the day cruising around Bangkok stuck in traffic seeing incredible

Poe makes the party a masquerade, to symbolize that the Prince and his guests are hiding things, more specifically from themselves. The symbolism of the masquerade also serves as an important setting as it is where the conflict with the red death figure happened. The red death’s appearance justifies itself in showing up at the party as “the mask which concealed the visage was made so nearly to resembles the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have had difficulty in detecting the cheat” which made the figure seem like another guest at the party. The masquerade itself has to do with masks which symbolizes in hiding. The guests and Prospero are both hiding the fact that they do not feel comfortable in the castle as…

In the past 50 years, Bangkok has changed dramatically in many ways. The first improvement deals with technology. In the present, people around the world can connect faster because they have the Internet, and mobile phones. The following improvement facilitate people to run business. In addition, development in surgery is improved so it is safer for people to treat in hospitals. Different from the present, letters were the only way that people could communicate in the distant area. Sending letters spends many days to reach recipients. About medical, doctors had to guess patients’ symptom and treated what patients felt because there were no x-ray machines, ultrasound machines and so on. The second improvement is concerned with transportation. People spend less time going to other places because sky train and subway have high speed. Moreover, merchandise can be transported to other countries because they are transferred by flights. In contrast, trains are still available but there were less speed when they are compared with sky train or subway. People can only transport imported merchandises through ships. Transport by ships took long time and sometimes merchandises were broken. People’s lifestyle is the final difference between the present and the past, people usually work in the office which is located on downtown and central business district. There are a few members in the family because people have a few children. In the past, farming is the main job that people did. Most of the families were large because people had many children and also lived with their relatives. In conclusion, these examples show that everything has changed in Bangkok when technology and progress influence…

My keen interest I decided to visit the Wat Buddharangsi Temple of Miami which follows the ways of Theravada Buddhism. I did not expect to find it in such a remote location. The temple was completely surrounded by fields in a village like neighborhood. The location and its surroundings had the atmosphere very peaceful. A lot of trees surrounded the temple and made it feel full of life. The design of the temple was beautiful with not much color apart from the gold painted roofs and details. The building was built in a distinct “North Asian” style making it feel like you were stepping into a completely different place.…

    Tourism in Thailand

"Rainforests are currently being destroyed at a rate of over 200,000 square kilometers a year according to the US National Academy of Sciences" (Wheeler). Some of these rainforests are located in Thailand's national parks. In Thailand, there are 15 national parks set aside for conservation, though only 80% of these parks remain intact today. These Parks represent approximately 13% of Thailand's land. The purpose of these parks is for the conservation of the forests and wildlife, educational tours and research studies, as well as recreational adventure (Wheeler). In 1961, The Royal Forest Department (RFD) of Thailand passed the National Park Act. This act stated that activities which endanger any resource within the park boundaries are strictly prohibited. These activities include settlement, land ownership, grazing, the manipulation of waterways, geological deterioration, logging, hunting, and colleting of forest products. These provisions obviously do not apply to park officials who protect and maintain the park for education, technical research, and facilitate recreational activities" (Pipithvanichtham). One of the main reasons for the Thai government's plan to expand tourism facilities in the national parks is to bring in foreign money into the economy through tourism to these areas. However, there are concerns that the effects of increasing tourism in these areas will lead to mismanagement, corruption, and environmental destruction. Therefore, the Thai government should not be promoting tourism in Thailand's national parks.…

I set out. It was a pleasure to walk in the natural surroundings. I could breathe fresh and pure air. The fields around were full of smiling corn-fields of wheat and gram. Here and there could be seen fields of mustard with yellow flowers waving in the breeze. All this presented a beautiful sight. There were tall trees here and there. Small birds were flying about filling the atmosphere with their chirping. There was no humdrum of city life, no sound of scooters and motor-rickshaw and motor-horns to disturb me. What a peaceful atmosphere all around!…
