Trifles The play Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a well written story that I enjoyed every minute reading. Susan Glaspell’s play is about a woman that killed her husband. The protagonist of the paly Trifles killed her own husband because she was facing gender inequality with her husband and also because she was feeling lonely. First of all, the protagonist of this play killed her own husband because he was behaving as if he was her master. He was treating her as his housemaid and he was more likely in control of her. Also, in their town, women have no first and only get the last name of their husband when they get married to them. This is really pathetic, it’s seem as females have no value that time and were not even children, but the properties of men. She was really depressed because although, it’s a law in their society that females should obey and live under the control of their husband, nobody like to feel controlled; we all deserve to feel and have peace and freedom. Wright killed her husband because she was lonely. Since, Mr. Wright took time to bring his own wife down; he has not time left to care for her or to be friendly with her. Mr. Wright was controlling his wife that he did want her to enjoy or have any fun activities beside cooking and house works. Moreover, she was really unhappy; so, she made herself a friend in that house which was a canary. However, the heartless Mr. Wright killed his wife’s canary which makes her so angry. This could be one of the reasons that pushes Mrs. Wright to the edge and made her killed her husband. Furthermore, I felt connected to the pains of Mrs. Wright because although I have never been controlled before, I know it’s not a fun feeling. However, I do not think that Mrs. Wright made the right choice because I believe that when those men finally open their eyes, they are not going to have any compassion on her.
