Therefore when Athena is faced with a great challenge, she prevails and shows her perseverance. Along with perseverance, Athena exemplifies the quality of leadership in her everyday tasks such as when she disguises herself, makes plans for Odysseus and Telemachus, and stops the war between the kinsmen of the suitors and Odysseus and his men. Athena takes charge and leads when she first disguises herself. In that moment the readers witness the first moment when Athena leads by example in the book. She tries to lead the mortals and let Telemachus know his father is alive:
“So Athena vowed and under her feet she fastened the supple sandals,

She seized the rugged spear tipped with bronze pointー of heroes the mighty father’s daughter storm against.
And down she swept from Olympus’ craggy peaks and lit on Ithaca, standing tall at Odysseus’ gates, the threshold of his court. Gripping her bronze
