The outbreak of The Great War in 1914 was due to escalated tension between several countries, which resulted in forming a number of alliances. European countries created alliances because of fear. Countries became more scared of each other, and therefore decided to outline agreements in case of war. The Triple Entente was a significant alliance that was made between Russia, France and Britain to contradict the increasing threat from Germany, as well as prevent German Expansion in Europe.
