Lighting played a pivotal role in this movie. During all night scenes, Hitler was very prominently illuminated highlighting his role as a beacon for German society to follow. In contrast, all the attendees were in relative darkness like large black mass. The analysis points to the fact that for the people individuality no longer existed and that they were nothing more than a cog in the German machine. Another characteristic feature was the use of angles. We viewed the movie from the POV of the average German citizen henceforth whenever we saw Hitler we were always looking up at him. This was used in conjunction with the lighting to make him seem as a role model, one who we could look up to. Editing played a huge role in the production of the movie as well. Using multiple cameras with numerous vantage points gave the editor dozens of shots to choose from. This allowed for only the positive messages to be seen such as adoring fans, triumphant salutes, and choreographed processions.
In conclusion, this movie did a very good of furthering Hitler’s propaganda. It used event staging, rhetoric, and selective editing to establish Hitler as an impeccable leader and model for society. Through inciting the masses into a nationalist fervor; Hitler used the movie to remind the people of what they owed him and that they were all bound to him, only united could they challenge the
