Per capita beer consumption in the country had been stable for many years. In order to find new opportunities for growth, Cerjugo management decided to expand their product lines into juices. They recognized early on that the juice business was very different from that of beer. In beer, there was little competition and profit margins were high, close to 40 percent. The profit margins for juice would be much lower and there were a number of competitors but they felt they could create a competitive advantage by (1) focusing on “freshness,” i.e., all natural ingredients; (2) by leveraging their deep knowledge of their consumers; and (3) by capitalizing on an already strong retail customer base, which would triple as a result of adding juice products.…

Robert Cade, Dick Malonis, Harry James Free, and Dana Shires were the medical researchers at the University of Florida who created Gatorade in 1965. The Gators football coach, Ray Graves, was frustrated with the performance of his players during the hot summer football practices, and asked the team doctor, one of Cade’s associates, for his insight. Cade and his research team came across the unique mix of water, sodium, sugar, potassium, phosphate, and lemon juice that is now known as Gatorade in honor of the football team, the Gators. The football team credited Gatorade with their first Orange Bowl win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 1967, and the drink became an instant phenomenon. The Yellow Jackets coach Bud Carson, when asked why they lost, replied: "We didn’t have Gatorade. That made the difference. Shortly after, Cade partnered with Stokely-Van Camp, Inc. (S-VC) to produce and distribute the product. A year after its commercial introduction Gatorade was reformulated, as its initial recipe contained the sweetener cyclamate, which was banned by the FDA. The Quaker Oats Company bought S-VC in 1983, after a bidding war with rival Pillsbury. Quaker licensed manufacturing of Gatorade in some worldwide markets to PepsiCo, but sued Pepsi in Australia in 1998, alleging Pepsi had misappropriated Gatorade trade secrets to manufacture its own sports drink, All Sport. Quaker won the Australian case.[2] In the meantime, the University of Florida has received royalties for Gatorade each year, since their settlement with Cade in 1973.[3]…

The head coach replied "Because we did not have Gatorade on our sidelines." In 1969 the Kansas City Chiefs used the sports drink an attribute their Super Bowl victory that year to Gatorade. Only one year after its commercial introduction, Gatorade reformulated its recipe due to the Food and Drug Administration banned Sodium Cyclamate, which is a sweetener, according to Gatorade.com, last accessed on October 9, 2005. The Quaker Oats company bought Stokely Van-Camp in 1983 and licensed marketing rights to Pepsi co. until 2001 when Pepsi Co. bought the Quaker Oats Company, according to wikipedia.com, last accessed on October 9th, 2005. What do the athletes Michael Jordan, Sidney Crosby, Derek Jeter, and Serena Williams all have in common? All of these award winning athletes are sponsored and help advertise for Gatorade, the most successful sports drink marketed worldwide (Chavis, 2010). Currently owned by PepsiCo, Gatorade was first invented in 1965 at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FLA. (Chavis, 2010). The purpose of Gatorade was to display this message: “By drinking this non-carbonated drink, you're not only relieving your thirst, but you're also replacing lost hydration from sweating. Gatorade also supplies your body with carbohydrates and electrolytes.” (Emmerson, 2006). With an annual consumption of more than 300 million litres (Source: Tetrapak India Study), fruit juice is not an alien concept for the Indian market. However, a very large part of the Indian consumer today feels alienated when fruit juice is packaged. Perhaps, that is why packaged juice accounts for only between 15% and 20% of the total juice consumption in India. Compared to the West, packaged fruit juice penetration, at just 4%, is still very low (Source: NRS 2005). Symbolised by the orange fruit, packaged juices and nectars are driven by fresh juice made at home and popularised by the street-side juice vendor. Dabur Foods Limited (DFL) has always taken an uncompromising stand on these consumer barriers and has consistently been thinking out of the box for the last nine years, with a resolve to innovate and evolve new products.…
Does anyone here know what orange juice is made of? Okay, does anyone know what makes up orange juice besides oranges? Store bought Orange juice is completely unnatural. Since orange juice has an a extremely short shelf life orange juice manufacturers extract the oxygen from the juice. Unfortunately, this process removes the orange flavor from the juice. These packs where designed in the same labs that make perfumes for Calvin Klein and Dior. Though these packs are artificially made, they are made by orange by products they don't have to write artificially flavored on the bottles. This would be fine in all if it didn't contain…
