True Friend
A True Friend What is the meaning of a true friend? A true friend is someone who comforts you when in need, cries with you in sorrows and laughs with you when you do something stupid. I believe my brother, Keaton, is a prime example of a “true friend”. When I was little, Keaton brought home a very sweet girl. To our knowledge, Amber came from a very wealthy and well-respected family. After four months, Amber continued to come over; I knew this relationship was getting serious. I overheard my mom on the phone one day. “Keaton can go with her!” Not hearing the response, I kept listening. I heard my mother say, “Amber needs him there for her now more than ever. Skipping school for a day does not compare to the pain she is going through.” At that point, I had no clue what was going on, but what I did know was that something was seriously wrong. Amber came over the next night and everything seemed normal. I heard her and Keaton talk about how she had a doctor’s appointment. Keaton assured her that he would be right by her side through it all, and she was going to be just fine.
The next morning, Keaton and Amber went to the doctor. The nurse explained that the phlebotomist would be there shortly to do blood work. When the doctor came in, he explained, “Ms. Shell, I am afraid there were some complications with the blood work. We are going to have to have to run a few tests.” “Thank you, Dr. Heck. Maybe you can find the problem. I have not felt well lately.” Keaton invited Amber for supper a few nights later. We were sitting at the dinner table and Amber explained to the family about her doctor’s visit. I then told her, “Amber, you know if you ever need me, I am here for you. I can go to the doctor with you if you would like me to.” “Thanks, Hailey. You are the best!” Two weeks had passed and it was getting closer to time for Amber’s next doctor’s visit. The phone rang, it was for me; it was Amber saying, “Keaton has soccer practice today.
