Trulieve Medical Marijuana Case Study
After years of political wrangling and delays Florida is set to launch medical marijuana sales Tuesday this week. So far only one company is approved to operate a dispensary.
Cultivation licenses were awarded to six businesses some time ago but thus far only one company, Trulieve, has received dispensing approval.
Trulieve’s first location will open in Tallahassee with plans for three other cities.
Florida’s cannabis regime is very restrictive. The marijuana approved for sale include a low-THC cannabis and medical cannabis for specific medical conditions.
Analysts believe Florida will eventually represent a 7 percent share of the U.S. legal cannabis market, in no small part because the aging population tends to be the most aggressive adopters.
