Truman's Containment Speech

The events of the Truman Doctrine could be related to the aspect of the Cold War that is considered part of the US policy of containment. The Truman Doctrine was a policy set forth by Harry Truman on March 12, 1947 stating that the US would support Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid to prevent their falling into the Soviet sphere. President Truman’s policy of providing economic and military aid to any country threatened by communism or totalitarian ideology mainly helped Greece and Turkey.
