Mr. Wipf, I know you couldn’t read “The Flag is Drenched with Our Blood” because you don’t have enough articles, so let me quickly summarize it for you: Charles Blow recounts every evil that has ever befallen the black community in America since they were taken from their homes in Africa. It’s a complete ad misericordium; he presents no line of thought that connects the situation in modern black America with any of those events of the past (eg. segregation, lynchings, slavery). All he says is that since blacks were once slaves, “how dare” we criticize their current actions. It’s complete sensationalism and emotionally-charged to the point of denying fact. Of course we can all agree blacks suffered great evils in the past.…

On June 16, 2015, in the extravagant Trump Tower of New York City, Donald John Trump announced his candidacy for the 2016 presidency. While most Americans raised their eyebrows in bewilderment, comedians erupted in a dance that Happy Feet would envy. His bombastic personality, amorphous hair, and poorly photographed facial expressions have become some of the most popular political punchlines. Critics dissect his statements and possible solutions until they seem unrealistic, and some are, like building a “YUGGEEE” wall to separate America and Mexico. While Trump is one of the most successful men in America, he is portrayed in media to be an ignorant idiot by YouTubers, comedy writers, and even respected…

Every story needs to have original characters and an original storyboard. That’s not what Truman Capote and John Steinbeck thought. Capote and Steinbeck both portrayed two characters that have more similarities to each other than differences. They describe a tall and masculine fellow who follows the orders of their smaller and more bright individual. The perception is that Capote created these characters but his novel, “In Cold Blood,” the character's Perry Edwards Smith and Richard (Dick) Eugene Hickock are real people. That is why Capote’s book is considered a nonfiction novel. On the other hand, John Steinbeck writes the book, “Of Mice and Men,” which is about what it means to be human. The main characters George Milton and Lennie Small…
