Truth and Validity Truth is a property of statements, complete accuracy of propositions, sentences, assertions, and beliefs. Truth can also be tied to self- esteem because it promotes presumption. Scenario C The Bible can’t be relevant to today’s problems; it was written many centuries ago and is filled with archaic phrasing. The Bible is totally relevant to today’s problems because: (a) it is the word of God (“in the beginning was the word, the word was with God …show more content…
(b) Even though it was written many centuries ago, it’s still fresh every time it’s been read and very powerful in solving our daily problems. (c) Finally, the bible says; “what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes chapter 1 verse 9 in the New International Version (NIV). This simply means that problems go in circle. The solutions that were used (from the word of God) in the bible to solve difficult problems that children of God were having those days in both the Old and the New Testaments, are the same being used today by believers at various spiritual levels. This is a very interesting and complex topic. There is an adage that says, “Money answers all things but the love of it is the root of all evil”, this same analogy could be used for power. We all know that power is good, but if it is not well curtailed and managed, it could become evil. “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men”. (Yudkowsky, 2008, p1). In today’s world, human beings have evolved to achieve power and status when they obtain it. There have been so many occasions where absolute power corrupts good people and they end up finding themselves behind bars. A very good example is the case of the former governor of Virginia, Robert McDonnell and his wife Maureen were guilty of 11 counts of corruption and were sentenced to two years in jail because he used his office influence to obtain favor from one of his political donor (CNN, 2014). Another good example of corrupts people in power is the case of the New Jersey senator, Bob Menendez who was indicted yesterday, April 1st by the Federal grand jury for corruption charges for using his office to obtain gifts (CNN,
