Many years ago, there were three documents that stood out and when on the lay out the blueprint of the America that is known today. These three documents are The Declaration of Independence (Thomas Jefferson), The Gettysburg Address (Abraham Lincoln), and Martin Luther King’s famous speech “I had a dream…”. After reading these documents, I have noticed a trend or a theme. The main theme that are present in each is the rising up to fight against injustice, inequality and the evil in man. They all seem to want to finish the job of what their forefathers that went to war fought for and The Declaration of Independence, followed by the other mentioned speeches, seemed to have sparked this “revolution”. In this tryptic, Jefferson seems to have been called upon by the warrior (Lincoln) and is giving him the strength and light he needs to battle against the evil serpent. Lincoln can view Jefferson as a kami because as Lincoln was stating The Gettysburg Address, he looks back on what Jefferson said in The Declaration of Independence and uses it as a reference in his speech.
The warrior in my triptych is Abraham Lincoln. In the triptych, Lincoln is the warrior that is battling the serpent that represents evil with the help of his kami (Thomas Jefferson). I made Lincoln into the warrior because he is carrying on what has been said by Jefferson and is taking action and making an effort to “slay” this evil. Lincoln also was calling his fellow American men to rise up and take action as well, so Lincoln can also represent America fighting together to rid this
