The Tucker Company had a major reorganization which then resulted into the formation of the three major divisions that represents the principal product lines of the company. The three new divisions are as follows: commercial jet engines, military jet engines and utility turbines. Each division are able to operate independently, wherein they have their own equipment but there are times that they still need to utilize the services from the other departments.
There is an old company wide laboratory that supports all major divisions. Before Mr. Garfield the old laboratory manager retired, there has been little evidence of conflicts between the divisions or the departments. His replacement however, Ms. Hodge unlike him was an attention-seeker type of an employee. After six months of stay in the company she is already involved in different interdepartmental conflicts over the work that was being conducted at the laboratory.
One major conflict that has happened in the company was between Ms. Hodge and Mr. Franklin of the engineering department of the utility turbine division. This was because Ms. Hodge insisted that the laboratory should be more involved in the selection of the materials and in the design of the experiments. Because of the conflict between the two, Mr. Franklin’s request is being processed longer under Hodge’s management and there is a time that one of his critical projects was unable to receive the necessary schedule.
II. Problem Statement
The problem to this is the conflict between Ms. Hodge, a new manager of testing laboratory and Mr. Franklin of the engineering department of the utility turbine division. The conflict arises from Ms. Hodge involving the testing laboratory to the design and material selection of a product being tested at the testing laboratory and mismanagement of products which are being tested in the laboratory. The laboratory wants to widen its capabilities which make conflicts
