Tuesday's with Morrie Setting and Musical

Tuesdays with Morrie Morrie says, “Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” In Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom begins the movie as an overworked and stressed man who finds out that his favorite college professor, Morrie, just discovered his impending death. He goes to visit his old professor who discovers many things that Mitch didn’t know about himself. He realized that he is too busy and his work is taking over his life. He learns that he is afraid of so many things in life, and if compensating by trying to be successful in his professional life. Perhaps the most important things he learns is that he is willing and able to change his ways for the better. The various musical selections of Tuesdays with Morrie all evoke compassion. Mitch’s girlfriend, Janelle, sings backup as her career. She sings a few different times throughout the movie, but one time in particular showed her passion more than the others. When Janelle went to go meet Morrie for the first time, he asked her to sing. She sang a beautiful song to him with such love and passion that it even made him cry. Mitch told Janelle that he had never heard her sing like that before. Another example of passion in music in the movie was during Mitch and Morrie’s last session. Morrie describes his perfect day to Mitch, and when he begins talking about his friends, the music starts and quickly builds into an intense lullaby. The music shows passion because of when it starts, he is talking about how much his friends mean to him. Not only does the music in Tuesdays with Morrie show passion, but so does the setting. Morrie and Mitch spend the majority of their Tuesdays together in Morrie’s house. There they have many passion filled moments, one of which is the last scene, the scene where Morrie finally gets Mitch to cry and let out his emotions.
