Naia, a water nymph employed by Poseidon, was collecting water from the river to send to the mortals. Poseidon and Zeus had been fighting for weeks, and for a rather meaningless reason. The gods of Olympus were sick of drinking just nectar, and wanted something that could wash the taste away from their mouths. That, of course, had to be water. When Poseidon refused to send all of his water to Olympus, Zeus erupted in anger and forced his army onto Poseidon’s seas. Naia was supposed to collect water from the sea, but she fled to the river due to the war going on. She wished she could do something to help, but it was no use, she had tried.…
Yet all over the news there were warnings telling residents to stay inside their homes and not to go outside. Otherwise they will be injured by flying debris. As the day progressed the storm just got more and more violent. A hush went over everything in their town. All the sudden they were in the eye of the storm. “It’ll stay quiet like this for a while, maybe fifteen, twenty minutes, kind of like an intermission” (Murakami Page.…
We fifth grade students are now moving on to middle school, and we had such a great experience, we would like to leave a memory of our class. The Eagle represents Signal Hill and means so much to our school community. We would like to replace the old carved wood Eagle that is displayed in the front of our school, which is rotting, with a new one. It would be presented as a gift to the Signal Hill Elementary School on behalf of the 2016 Signal Hill Graduating Class. We are asking for a donation of five dollars from the fifth grade students or whatever you feel appropriate.…
Many people face dire situations everyday, but what about deadly? This is what about 43,000 Filipinos faced on October 15, 2013 when a deadly 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the islands of Bohol and Cebu. The temblor was the largest to shake the area in 23 years. (BK Info) Also, 2211 aftershocks hit the region and most citizens were completely unprepared, and shocked. The cause of this disaster is likely the East Bohol Fault. The quake killed around 185 people and put at least 36,000 buildings (mainly homes) into a state of destruction. Various locations were now just heaps of wreckage, including ports, schools, airports, hospitals, and lots of houses. People respond to a natural catastrophe by gathering supplies, getting help, and trying to survive and get back upon their feet.…
On Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history occurred as four large passenger jets were hijacked then crashed, killing nearly 3,000 persons. The attack was carried out by four separate teams of terrorists from the Middle East, all operating from inside the U.S. Each team had boarded an early-morning flight, posing as passengers, then forcibly commandeered the aircraft. Two fully-fueled jumbo jets, American Airlines Flight 11 carrying 92 persons and United Airlines Flight 175 carrying 65 persons, had departed Boston for Los Angeles. Both jets were diverted by the hijackers to New York City where they were piloted by the terrorists themselves into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The impact and subsequent fire caused both 110-story towers…

And so, it seems as if uncertainty rings through the golden, sweetened atmosphere of the United States of America. For you, my fellow Americans, I have but one question: Is this what American revolutionists sought for when they died to gain Independence? Is this what the Union fought to keep together? Is this what Franklin D. Roosevelt sacrificed his wellbeing for? Is this what ladies and gentlemen of the Union suffer to preserve day after day?…
Being Miss South Atlanta is not just a title in my opinion, it is something I have desired to become throughout my few years of high school. I have been a student attending South Atlanta High School since August 2014. School spirit was just something my school lacked. Last year, happened to be the first year I truly enjoyed homecoming, and as I stated I have been here since 2014. If I am elected Miss South Atlanta I will work with SGA and 12th grade Student Body in order to mark 2018 a year to remember.…
I love Hawaii because it’s a culture enriches state. I am glad that the state of Hawaii brought back the Hawaiian practices. As a student who went to school in Hawaii, I know how good it is to have Hawaiian education programs. The state of Hawaii Constitution requires that the public school system has Hawaiian education programs. The Hawaiian programs in the public school system help keep the Hawaiian practice alive. Here is a link to the Hawaii educational system: http://www.hawaiipublicschools.org/TeachingAndLearning/StudentLearning/HawaiianEducation/Pages/Hawaiian-studies-program-interview.aspx.…

Imagine that you trained all your life for that special moment of playing in your first NHL game. At the beginning of your first shift in the game suddenly another player’s stick comes up and strikes you in the eye. This incident ends your career. This could have been prevented if you wore a visor. I think visors should be mandatory in the NHL in order to improve a player’s safety. Statistics have proven players who wear visors in the NHL play less aggressive. There are many incidents involving sticks and pucks going into player’s faces. A recent incident occurred between Philadelphia’s Chris Pronger and Toronto’s Mikhail Grabovski. Furthermore, two years ago a former NHL player Brad May, Gave a speech supporting the use of visors.…
