“What if today were my last day on earth?” ~Morrie
This simple quote by Morrie speaks so loudly. What if today was your last day on earth? This is really something to think about. Nothing says live everyday to the fullest better than this. We never know when our last day will be, it is best to live ever day as if it were your last. Take your days one at a time. Most people look at life in years, giant increments of time. I believe if you look at life by each day, you will appreciate so much more. Society is fast moving and always planning way ahead. One day time is going to catch up to all of us. I am going to try to live life more slowly so that I can appreciate the moments for how beautiful they are. We should all try living in the moment.

“Love wins. Love always wins.” ~Morrie
As Morrie discusses the tension between opposites he mentions that love always wins. He can mean many things by this but, I believe it means love is a fight and in the end the fight is worth it. The tension between opposites is described as life being a series of pulls back and forth. Like the pull of a rubber band, love’s greatest tension lies in the middle. People must make compromises for each other. Love may not be something a person wants but love is something that is un-fightable. Your mind may tell you love is not the right thing, but your heart may say it is. Your emotions can fight with each other, creating tension between right and wrong which are two opposites. Once love comes about it doesn’t leave, therefore it always wins, the heart should win. Your heart has more feelings than your mind, I need to start thinking with my heart a little bit more. We all get confused between right and wrong more than once in a lifetime.

“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning in your life is to devote

Sarah Wilensky's quote states that although technology have made us the generation of "copy-paste" ("Generation Plagiarism" Wilensky ), it also helps identify plagiarism in an easier manner; As per Wilensky, technology provides "easy access to information makes it possible to verify whether that familiar passage is indeed some other scholar’s work, or a case of déjà vu"("Generation Plagiarism" Wilensky ). In addition, the author argues that must students have been forced to avoid plagiarism because of its consequences and easier detection. I agree with Wilensky's quote and share her opinion. Because of new technologies development, we are now aware of plagiarism being committed, and it's consequences.…

This quote is taken place when Brent reaches the hospital and Brent is in a lot of physical pain and believes things will be best if he just dies. However, this last sentence states that Brent doesn’t want to die anymore. The author wanted to write these specific lines, because as a reader one can see the growth in Brent’s character and perception. We see in the beginning of the book how suicidal and self-destructive Brent was, from hiding knives in his room to his many suicide attempts. The wanting to kill himself is slowly subsiding while Brent is learning to appreciate life and his friends and family.…

''It is not what an author says, but what he or she whispers that is important'', this is a quote written by Logan Pearsall Smith. The meaning of this quote is that what matters is what the author implies not the literal meaning. My opinion is to agree with Logan Pearsall Smith's quote. In the next two paragraphs I will discuss how the quotation pertains to the examples I have chosen in "The Devil and Tom Walker" by Washington Irving, and "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allen Poe.…

This quotes mainly describes McCandless’s struggles with rapports, which might have helped him on his adventure for peace. Over the next two years, McCandless doesn’t talk to his sister, whom he says he was close with, and while he meets many people, and becomes close to a few, he always makes sure to even keep them at “arm's length” In this passage, he is just leaving Ron Franz, who spends the next year or so waiting for his return, while McCandless ignores the intimacy between them by going into the wilderness and dying. In allowing himself to push away these relationships, he ignores the harm done to those who love him when he risks his safety and his…

Catherine Opie’s Joanne, Betsy, & Olivia best represents “quoting” documentation. Catherine specializes in documentary photography and explores aspects such as domestic everyday activities. Her methods of documenting certain moments in real life situations directly reflect quoting. In this photograph, it is almost like the audience is catching a glimpse of this families day to day lives. The house is messy with the toddlers toys everywhere and it looks as if they just finished a meal. These people are not posing or being staged, they are simply doing what they would normally be doing. When thinking of how Jim defines happiness, I think that Antonia would disagree with this quote,”…to be dissolved into something complete and great, When it comes to one, it comes as naturally as sleep.” Throughout the book Antonia is ready to do everything right then at that time, and she doesn’t have the patience to wait on the good things to happen. Antonia is always ready to work and learn something new, but she lacks the patience to learn and to make sure she does it the right way. What Jim was saying is that, happiness comes at the right time, and that you cannot try to force it. The quote, “and I did not want to be anything more. I was entirely happy.” “Jim was glad that he felt like this in the hard times.” Also, another quote to…

“…I feel my heart glow with an enthusiasm which elevates me to heaven; for nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose…” (9). I think this line is absolutely brilliant. The way Shelly manages to word this is just beautiful because it’s so true! I can connect this to my life because with a steady purpose I can get things done and be successful. People have no drive without a purpose.…

Throughout the reading of “Of Mice and Men”, written by John Steinbeck, I feel that the one quote that embodies the author’s message of the entire work is located towards the end of the novel. I find that the quote that embodies the message is, “He pulled the trigger.” (106). To me, this quote shows the loyalty of George to Lennie. In the beginning of the novel, we see that George has somewhat rescued Lennie, and taken him away from the danger that he was facing back in Weed.…

The French author Victor Hugo once said, “There is nothing like a dream to create the future.” The quote means whenever you have a dream, the dream shapes and sets your future. Hugo’s quote is correct because dreams are the key to setting your goals so you can achieve further in the future. In Lorraine Hansberry’s play A Raisin in the Sun, this quote is true because of Walter’s dream to be the man of the house, Benethea’s dream to live past society’s expectations of an African American woman and become a doctor, and Mama’s dream is to have her family united as one.…

If you knew you were to die tomorrow, what would be the chance you wished you had taken? Or the moments you let slip away? Would you be happy? Would you be sad? Or would you die at peace knowing that you lived life to the fullest potential? The biggest regret that people have on their deathbed is that they lived the life expected of them instead of a life true to themselves. We need to fulfill the journey this life grants us without being close to the end of life and regretting not doing the things that we should’ve or could’ve done.…

It was Robert G. Ingersoll who once said; “The greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart.” In other words, he is trying to convey to us that in life, it is how we deal with our failures, and not the actions we take during our high points that matter most. This is because who we are and how we act during our lows are what define us as people. In accordance with this quote, two examples in which this idea occurs constantly are Lorraine Hansberry’s controversial play, A Raisin in the Sun, and Harper Lee’s renowned novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. Let’s delve into these pieces of literature to thrust Ingersoll’s philosophy into light.…
