Before I graduate from Tulane University, I am hoping to learn more about social issues and get more involved with social justice advocacy and leadership. I recently took the first step towards this goal by joining CACTUS Academy’s Spring Cohort. I have no doubt that this will take me a long way toward accomplishing my personal goal. Additionally, I hope to remain on the Dean’s List for the duration of my academic career at Tulane.

Stressed college students could really benefit from a roundtable discussion on what it means to practice mindfulness and incorporate it into our lives through simple tasks. Some of us many not have room in our schedules to take the full Buddhism course, but conversing on and learning about the culture with one of the professors would be enlightening.
What elements are crucial to the success and development of an intellectual community?
An intellectual community relies of a group of individuals from diverse backgrounds coming together to offer differing perspectives and bounce ideas off of one another. Seemingly unrelated fields and life experiences can mesh in unexpected ways, so having a diverse group with whom one can converse with is essential to success and development.
Tell us about a book you have read recently and why you found it interesting?
I’ve recently been reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks which is an interesting read because it discusses both the scientific and communal effect that Henrietta’s ever-growing cells have had.
