Tumor Reflection: My Clinical Experience

My clinical experience has inspired me to research conditions I have encountered. Observing the symptoms of a patient suffering from multiple sclerosis led me to read through journals. I found that multiple sclerosis is an auto immune, demyelinating disease caused by intolerance to myelin sheath. This impairs nerve conduction which cause symptoms to present. I researched and evaluated tumour’s radiological response to anti vascular agents in my dissertation. I critically appraised the radiological methods used to measure tumour response to determine an effective imaging modality. This has given me the skills to critically evaluate scientific literature and write academically. Continuous studying has led me to achieve a’1st’; be part of high
achievers group in my university and helped me gain a scientific scholarship in my sixth form. Extracurricular reading of biomedical journals allowed me to perform better academically and teach my peers. This supplemented their learning and consolidated my understanding of the topics. Involvement at university has fostered the development of my leadership, problem solving and time management skills, which are intrinsic of a competent medic.
