The primary source that I analyzed was, “Colony in Danger of Demise; Cabildo Begs Viceroy for Soldiers and Supplies May 8,1705”. This was a letter written by the Santa Fe cabildo, sent on May 8, 1705 to the new governor and captain general (Governor Francisco Cuervo and Valdés). The letter requested for the viceroy to send supplies, for the members of the Santa Fe Cabildo. They needed supplies due to the frequent ambushes and invasions from the Native Americans. In the letter it states, “Their continues invasions and ambush have caused numerous deaths and robberies each and every day and will become worse due to their immediacy in the heavily wooded and high country which surrounds our settlements.” (Cabildo, 1705) The letter goes on to explain how they don't even have clean clothes, or clothing at all in that matter. Their living situation is very poor they continue to beg and explain their situation to the viceroy. The cabildo states, “Lacking all of this aid, it is certain that this settlement…

The “American Dream”, an idea that success, freedom and equality exists according to each man's capabilities regardless of social status and ethnicity, is one that appeals to every American from all walks of life. After the Great Depression, the importance of realizing success, freedom and equality became a priority in the lives of many, including the Native Americans. The belief in the “American Dream” was deeply embedded in their hearts in a quest to dispel stereotypes about their community such as being poverty- stricken and primitive warriors who belonged in the jungles as they began to assimilate into the urban culture of a white dominated society. However, as one examines the American society today, such stereotypes still exists and may have been influential in the opportunities presented to the Native American communities or the lack thereof. In the story “The Red Convertible”, Louise Erdrich employs images associated with freedom as ironies in order to argue that the “American Dream” is a farce as the stereotypes attached to individual communities, in this case, the Native American communities will never be broken and the believe in such dreams will eventually lead to life-altering and undesirable outcomes.…

Omnitel Pronto Italia Case Analysis Introduction Omnitel is a telecom company based in Italy, which had purchased the GSM license on Dec 1994. In a country where mobile phones are considered as a status symbol, Omnitel focuses on providing superior customer service and therby reducing churn rates. The company has a marketshare of 4% and is capable of giving Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM), the market leader, a close run for their money. The vision of Omnitel is to position cellular phone in a manner akin to wristwatch, which is personal and indispensable. Push Strategy by the monopoly market Leader TIM Vs Pull strategy of the new comer Omnitel: Telecom Italia with a 97% share of the 7.5% market penetration rate in Italy had a sole aim of maintaining their cash flows. Hence apart from a high priced talk plans (relative to European counterparts) in response to the new competitor, TIM decided to offer incentive to the dealers. TIM was also responsible partly to the Italian customer perception that mobile phones more of a status symbol than a necessity. Omnitel, after paying a price of GSM acquisition in 1994 had no intention of entering a price war with the market leader. Instead it positioned itself as a better customer service provider. Though this strategy helped to gain customer satisfaction and lower churn rate (12.5% Vs 22% of TIM) it did not result in sales volume. Hence there was a proposal of new campaign called Libero by its Marketing Director. Libero “Libero” a unique plan proposed by Bona keeping in mind the current market and usage of the cellular phone. Libero plan was structured to compete with TIM, the leaders with high market share. It revolutionized the approach from the telecom company as it offered the plan without monthly fee. Libero plan has customized call rates of Lit.1595 and Lit.195 during peak and off peak hours respectively. By eliminating the fee Omnitel wanted to increase the customer base as well as call volume. Despite of the fact that…

It is very rare to meet people who are exactly alike. Even those who are generically identical, still have different personalities and characteristics. People often wonder, what exactly is it that makes us who we are? Is it the way people were raised? The environment they grew up in? The role models around them? The experiences they have been through? It would seem almost impossible to determine exactly what makes up the character of a person. It is often believed that it is a combination of elements that mold us all into who we are.…
