Playing a sport has impacted my life immensely. Playing basketball has helped me develop a type of camaraderie that you can only experience by being on a team with people who care about you and you care about. The bond I have developed with my teammates is so strong and is not something that everyone gets to be a part of in their lives. Through the team, I have made lifelong friends who I would give the world for. On the court, sports impact you by teaching you responsibility as they definitely have done with me. The ideal that every person on the floor has to do a certain job and if one person slacks off, the whole team suffers the consequences is very effective on and off the court. This helps with certain daily tasks like in school when we are assigned a group project, every member is given a certain responsibility and they are expected to fulfill it to their best doing. If one person in the group does not do their assigned part, the whole group will suffer with a bad grade. Being a part of a sport team also brings a sense of accomplishment to my life. When my team wins a game, it makes everyone feel good and it lifts my spirits to excel in whatever I do, but one of the biggest character traits that I am most proud to have gained from playing basketball in high school is the sense to be able to push myself in anything that I decide to do. I believe that this is one of the greatest traits that any person can learn in their life because it can really be applied to anything and is just so effective. I have applied this trait in my everyday life especially in school when I don’t think that I can do something or work a problem, I just push myself because I know that if I push myself until the very end, I can get it. So, I have learned many life lessons from playing basketball in high school which I can apply to any area of my life for the rest of my

My great uncle was a professional baseball player and my family, including my father, three brothers and a sister, are all very involved with the various team sports. Additionally, sports are extremely important in building one’s character through hard work, learning to work with others on a team and by learning how to cope with the joy of winning and the inevitability of losing.…

I like to think I took the Loss ok but I just blamed it all on myself. I got to show my winning spirts in a ton of games that season, and I think I showed my happiness well. Our team didn’t brag or show off we simply just played our game, and the results turned out as they may.…

Kids can get seriously hurt and have too much pressure, so they quit. There are some cons about playing on a competitive sports team, but there are also pros. Children get stronger, develop social skills, learn leadership, etc. Both sides of the debate have some very important factors, but one side seems to be a little more important. Sports teach kids discipline which will help them with many obstacles in the long run. Michael Jordan once said, “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career, lost almost 300 games, missed the game winning shot 26 times. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. That is why I succeed”(Three Life Skills). Sports teaches kids to never give up whether its in sports, school, or their social lives. This is the type of work ethic that will propel kids into a successful and productive adult life(Three life Skills). “Another skill that sports can teach is discipline. Discipline involves an individual's effort and willingness to put in time to the team. This vital skill involves focus and sacrifices. This skill learned in sports will help a child follow through with their commitments later in life” (Liberman). Throughout high school, my life has been consumed by sports. Being a student athlete has made me become the person I am today. Ever since I was sixteen, I have also worked at a daycare in town, TASK. This has showed me how much little kids look up to student athletes. Working at TASK has also showed me how much these little kids want to grow up and be like us student athletes. Without sports and working at the daycare, I would not be the role model I am today. Since working at the daycare, I have realized I want to be the person little girls are talking about when they say, “I want to grow up and be just like her.” Being chosen team captain has made me into the leader I am. Basketball has taught me a lesson I will remember forever and that is that hard work is the most important thing in life. I love the of basketball. I remember growing up enjoying watching Laker games on tv with my brother and seeing how talented players were especially Kobe Bryant. I am five foot seven and not really athletic like other players however I grew up to love the game and play it with passion. What I lack in is height but I have the heart and I leave it all out on the court when i play. I consider this my greatest talent because I push myself and I set goals to become a better player. For example, If i see a ball rolling on the floor, I do not stop and wait, I go and dive for the ball like it's the last play of the game. As a result,…
