Brief analysis on Uyghur Classic Art-12 Muqam

Abstract: This paper mainly describes the meaning and composition,formation,history, development and social,cultural function of 12 Muqam. 12 Muqam is Known as the "mother of Uygur music," the Twelve Muqam has a long history. Some scholars believe its origin can be traced back to the "Great Western Region Melody" that flourished during the Han (206BC-220AD) and Tang (618-907) dynasties and enjoyed a high popularity in Central China. In the mid-16th century, the imperial concubine of the Yarkant Kingdom devoted all her efforts to collecting and compiling Muqam music, which was then scattered across Uygur-populated areas. Amannisahan herself was an esteemed poetess and musician. With the help of other musicians, she finally worked out 12 grand, light, and entertaining compositions that are now known as the Twelve Muqam. Genre and structure of 12 Muqam
12 sets : Rak, Čäbbiyat, Segah, Čahargah, Pänjigah, Özhal, Äjäm, Uššaq, Bayat, Nava, Mušavräk, and Iraq.
Twelve Muqam including over 200 songs and over 70 pieces of musical instrument , needs over 24 hours to play it all.
Each set is divided into three parts: Qong nagma, Dastaan and Mashrap Muqam --- music, literature, dance, drama --- an integrated art Muqam--- from the Arabic vocabulary --- common "musical phenomenon" --- there is the phenomenon of "Muqam Music" in about 20 countries or regions, -from China (Xinjiang) to Egypt ----an international art phenomenon.
