Amy tan born in 1952 she lives in Oakland,California. Her parents fled from China's Communist revolution and settled in the United States ("Meet the writer"). She wrote her first novel in 1989 it was called "The Joy Luck Club" it was a best seller for nine months (Werlock). Tan believed she was born in the wrong family because her mother was impossible to be pleased (longnecker).

Also near the end she gave up trying she knew what she wasted to be. So then her mom was a clean and she cleaned this guys house for her to learn piano. She did it but the guys was half deaf so he thought it sound good even though she messed up a lot. Then her mom enter her into the church talent show. She did awful and her mom was disappointed so she gave up on piano. She went home looked in the mirror crying thinking she will be nothing. Then she stop trying to please her mom which is impossible. This reflects in Amy life because her mom wanted to her to be a doctor. Also be a pianists but she became a book writer.("Meet the Writer
