Two Male Deities Totem was created by Steve Lotz in 1970 during the Contemporary Art Period. It was painted with wax pencil and spray paint on paper, and has the dimensions of 86 ¾ x 48 inches. This paint represents the combination of two bodies, one masculine and one feminine. In a point of view, the top has a heart form with a golden circle in the middle that means engagement. In other words, it could be the representation of the love and the holiday San Valentine’s Day.
In fact, the form, texture and surface are the two formal elements that are present on this artwork. The forms in this artwork is simplify in a pillar that has in the tope a couple who cannot move. Likewise, the tope make reference to the love and engagement, the shadows

Shapes and volume are used not only to form man-made objects in the painting, but as the foundation for natural landmarks as well. In the foreground, the cinder wall is intricately composed of various triangles and squares, all connected by lines. The abovementioned tree is also composed of shapes, with two, well-defined circles acting as knots in the wood. The houses in the village below are constructed with well-defined lines to represent three-dimensional forms, with cubes and elongated triangular forms composing roofs. A small dirt plot in the shape of a square dominates the area of the closest houses of the municipality.…

Like the gardens it is an interactive piece. The silver ring represents the glass decanter. Black metal seems to spray from it, and bubbly, wavy shapes act like spills. The flat sculpture seems to have depth to it, and movement, since it may splash down at a moment’s notice.…

Totem poles are monumental sculptures carved from trees, typically Western Redcedar, by a number of Native American cultures along the Pacific northwest coast of North America.Basically, before contact, Natives in this part of the world had a different kinship system than we do today. A totem pole served as the emblem of a family or clan, its unity, the rights to which people in each clan were entitled, and as a reminder of each clans link to a spirit-ancestor.…

In this project Group 7 examined the seascape through formal elements in Claude-Oscar Monet's Mouth of the Seine at Honfleur. It is oil on canvas seascape painting from 1865. The depiction of the light from the sky, in the form of the color blue, is the dominant formal element that catches our attention at first sight of this image. The intention is to also describe the white sailboat in the background with the seagulls flying around it because it catches the eye second. The painter, Monet, uses a number of elements to make a very complex painting. These elements are employed all over. This is considered a very successful painting and it is very exciting to study this wonderful work of art.…

Forms are absolute versions of concepts and ideas. They are perfect ideas of everything and therefore they do not change – perfect things cannot change for the better and would not change for the worse. They are also eternal as to begin or to stop existing is a change. They cannot live in this world as it is constantly changing and forms are unchangeable, so they can only exist in the Realm of the Forms. The form of Beauty is absolute and true; it is not an opinion but an idea or concept, therefore no-one can know the real meaning of Beauty as it cannot exist in this world and it is eternal. We will never know forms fully as we are imperfect.…

    1. formal and iconographic characteristics are seen in high renaissanace, venetian and mannerist paintings. to begin with, in high renaissance michaelangelos Moses is shown holding the 10 commandments. You can clearly see the anger that is dipicted through the facial expression on moses. Michaelangelo wonderfully portrays the psychological states in moses, through the iconographic characteristics of his puffed lower lip, arched toes and the bulging of his veins. the formal characteristics are seen through michealangeols mastery of lines, which help create the anger that is being felt by moses. The formal characteristic of the lining of his beard and clothing show his inner turmoil. In the venetian painting of the virgin of the rocks by Leonardo Da Vinci, the artist magnificantly uses the chiaroscuro method of light and dark to model the expression and emotional states of the figures being portrayed. The lines, soft and subtle give the painting a more intimate feeling. The figures are all shown interacting with one another, praying, pointing, and blessing. He also presents the figures in a pyramidal group and sharing the same environment. The figures emerge through the use of light and shading from the half-light of the cavernous visionary landscape. For mannerism, formal characteristics are clearly seen in Parmigianino's Madonna with the long neck. Although nothing is shown in proportion the painting still apears soft and smooth, through the lines and colors used. The madonnas long neck, the delicacy of her hands and swaying elongation of her frames are all signs of mannerism. On the left stands the angelic creatures melting with emotions as soft and smooth as their limbs. on the right the artist includes a line of columns without capitals and an enigmatic figure with a scroll whose distance from the foreground is immeasureable and imbiguous.…

A formal analysis is defined as an analysis of the form that the artist has produced. One is studying the art elements such as line, shape, color, texture, mass and composition; not the story. These elements make up the expression, content and meaning of the piece of work chosen. In this particular chosen piece of artwork, Ilya Repins' painting, They Did Not Expect Him, depicting a story about the return of an exiled convict, there are numerous artistic elements and clues in the artists chosen form which convey meaning to the reader.…

    Wedding At Cana

The elements present in Wedding at Cana are important as they have to do with the very core of the piece. The lights and colors that Paolo used give the piece a very particular look and feel, and in this case a warm one. The reds, oranges, and yellows that are present and the lighting make for a warm overtone. Where value is concerned Wedding at Cana is on the brighter side of the spectrum, which ties in with the colors and light. Though the painting is flat, the shape looks three dimensional which helps give it a more realistic feel when looking; this is assisted with the fact that the piece has a very smooth texture. The horizon line for this painting appears to be the stone railing, which divides the painting into the upper and lower portion. The columns that appear throughout the image act as orthogonal, which lead to the vanishing point(s) at the top of the painting, and help set boundaries. Just as important as elements are the principles of art. Wedding at Cana is a painting that is quite balanced, other than having some discrepancies when it comes to light distribution. Though it is a rather bright work there are still negative spaces present, which draw your attention to the base of the tables where the servants, performers, and various animals are located. Everything is scaled to a realistic standard, again aiming at creating a realistic work of art. All of these aspects of the painting make it a unified one; with a unified painting you have a sense of completion when it comes to the work…

Yet it is not as personal as The Kiss sculpture. The LOVE sculpture reveals love through pop art, which is more modern and contemporary. One may view the sculpture as focusing on the type of art and not the emotion. The letters represent more of an abstract yet simple art. It does not scream love as The Kiss sculpture does. Rather than showing feeling, it presents style and fashion. It is not use to speak to others such as The Kiss, but rather for decoration. To one, LOVE can merely represent the type of style instead of a certain…
