Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM)is a metabolic disease mostly seen in adulthood due to insulin resistance, genetic factor, and environmental influences such as obesity. In addition, children have become victim of type 2 DM due to poor dietary intake. Furthermore, the hepatic glucose production increases, altered insulin production and reduced glucose absorption results in hyperglycemia. The insulin imprints become resistant to hormonal impulses due to increased blood glucose levels leading to hyperinsulinemia (Buttaro, Trybulski, Polgar Bailey & Sandberg-Cook, 2013). Approximately, 10.5% of individual between the ages of 45-64 years and 18.4% between ages 65-74 years are victims of this disease, success have been seen in early dictation and treatment thereby preventing cardiovascular disease and renal failure (Huether &McCance, 2013).

Again, the genetic abnormalities and environmental influences such as obesity, contributes to insulin resistance and reduced insulin excretion by beta cells. Although diet and exercise are usually part of the type 2 DM treatment, patient with a family history will need early diabetic screening (Huether & McCance, 2013). The genetic factor could fluctuate the glycemic blood level; therefore, patient should be instructed to check the blood glucose at least four times a day and medication adjusted
