Abstract
The ultimate goal of any type of therapy is to help a client deal with a disorder or a situation. The specific treatment goal depends upon the individual client. The goal can be concrete, such as quitting a bad habit, or more abstract, such as handling anger issues. Life experiences often disrupt a person’s sense of wholeness, leaving that person feeling unable to find a way back. When this happens, lives and relationships can become difficult and hard to deal with. In therapy, a client can develop knowledge of who they are and what they stand for. This paper will identify and discuss eight different types of therapies used in the counseling profession. Therapy can help a person identify and shift patterns that block their full potential. As a result, the person will become happier in life and create nurturing relationships.
Types of Therapy Used in the Counseling World
Therapy is a way for a client to express any emotional problems or concerns through consultations with a therapeutic professional. The therapist gives the client emotional support, advice, and teaches the client how to cope with particular issues. A person decides to go to therapy because one experiences an uncontrollable deal of emotional pain which may also caused one to feel overwhelmed. This paper will identify and discuss eight different types of therapy used in the counseling profession. Therapy has the power to help a client identify and change these emotional problems so that one may live a life full of peace and self-awareness.
