Human computer interaction can be very influential on our society, economy and culture. However for this to happen it has to be of an adequate level, a level capable of making an impact. To achieve this, developers of HCI platforms ensure that they stick to the fundamental principles of HCI design. In the first part of this report I will be illustrating the fundamental principles of design.
FUNDAMENTALS
The following are the fundamental principles of Human Computer Interaction design;
Perception
Perception generally involves the graphical user interface design. How the platform looks will differ depending on the tastes of the individual using it. It is important that whilst the developer is developing the HCI platform to take into account the following, to ensure that their platform meets the tastes of as many people as possible;
Colour- The colours used play a big part on the appearance of the platform. To ensure that the platform has the appropriate colours the developer should take his/her target audience into mind during the design stage. Doing this will draw the audience in.
Pattern- It is important that the template used when designing the platform is easy to navigate through. This way the users wouldn’t have a problem using the platform.
Objects- When adding objects (menu, buttons etc.) to the platform it is essential that they are necessary in other words part of the user requirements to make an efficient platform.
Pop out effect- Pop out effect can be used when a developer wants to grab the attention of the user. This can be done by making the text bigger or putting bright colours against dull colours.
Luminance- Making use of the right colour system will allow the user to have optimal visual effects. Luminance can also be referred to as colour coordinating as it is how a number of colours are used to create effects.
Behaviour Models
Behaviour models of HCI platforms are usually derived from previous successful
