The Ultimate Fighting Championship was inspired by the Brazilian fighting tournaments known as vale tudo. In 1993 Rorion Gracie, of the legendary Gracie family, introduced vale tudo to the American market. In 1993 Rorion founded the UFC.
It's stared as underground fighting has now emerged as the world quickest growing sport The UFC is now broadcasted in over 130 countries There have been events held in Canada, Germany, the U.K, Australia, United Arab Emirates and all but three states in the United States. The UFC has already broken the pay-per-view industry's all-time records for a single year of business, generating over $222,766,000 in revenue in 2006.
Rules of the Octagon In early UFC fight competitors were allowed to wear almost any attire. Now fighters must wear approved shorts, and cannot wear shoes or long pants Fighters must also wear approved light-weight open-fingered gloves, that include at least 1 of padding around the knuckles. These gloves reduce the risk of breaking your hand while allowing the fighter to grab and grapple.
