UKRAINIAN CORRUPTION. Ukraine is ranked as Europe’s most corrupt country, according to Transparency International (Cohen, 2016). The most severe corruption is done by authoritative politicians and officials. A clear example of corruption was best illustrated by the 1.8 million dollars that disappeared from the International Monetary Fund.The corruption in the country symbolizes the socio-political turmoil in Ukraine. According to the Portal on Central Eastern and Balkan Europe, statistics in 2011 indicate that about 26% of people reported extorted bribes, 47% officials demanded them payments, and 40% of them testified for bribe extortion. Standing as a parliamentary democracy, corruption damages the country’s ability to change into a market economy. The efforts to combat corruption are also obstructed by the inability to make laws that combat corruption and aid the economy’s state. Corruption has been an issue that has plagued the state and has seriously injured sectors that could improve significantly such as healthcare, education, and agriculture. Much has been jeopardized, including a fundamental element to a democracy, the citizen’s trust in the government. Additionally, corruption makes it difficult for the government to carry out its obligations for the population. This issue continues to be substantial conflict that makes the wealthy richer and the disadvantaged poor. Past efforts of the Ukrainian government, and other countries and organizations has failed. However, the proposal of the creation of a new regulatory organization could significantly aid the country to make a considerable blow to corruption.
