1. The large mainstream environmentalism groups started to compromise too much with regulatory agencies and bureaus, starting with the Glen Canyon Dam project. This began an estrangement with the mainstreams that culminated in the rise of more militant groups like Earth First! Glen Canyon represented what was fundamentally wrong with the country's conservation policies: arrogant government officials motivated by a quasireligious zeal to industrialize the natural world, and a diffident bureaucratic leadership in the mainstream environmental organizations that more or less willingly collaborated in this process.

The mainstream environmental groups and government held the premise that mankind should control and manage the natural world.…

In Mark Twain’s Letters from Earth after a brief introduction by Twain, the story shifts to the letters written by Satan to his friends in heaven. In the first letter, Satan—who has been banished to Earth for one thousand “Earth days”— goes on to say that the people, the other animals, the earth itself are all insane. Nature itself is insane. This first letter is a very blunt statement on human arrogance and hypocrisy. He says goes on to explain his declaration over the course of the next ten letters.…

    A Young Earth

To me, it is not surprising that scientific evidence support a young earth perspective because the Scripture which I believe is the owner’s manual of the earth proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the age of this earth is in thousands and not millions or billions years as believed by evolutionist. I commend the efforts and all the hard work of the brave team of seven creation scientists from Institute for Creation Research for their success of completing eight- year’s research project known as RATE, or Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth. According to RATE, for over a hundred years, evolutionists have insisted that the earth is billions of years old, and have arrogantly dismissed any views contrary to the belief. The results and Scientifics evidence of RATE outcome were fascinating; some of which are listed on their web site. Evolution Science evidence supporting the age of the earth changes from time to time as new development or new experiment shows up from time to time. But as for the Bible, the original manuscripts does not change it remains same forever. “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” 1…

In this review, we will discuss Will Smith's movie "After Earth" directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Smith’s movie is about a military father and his teenage son. One thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind's new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai. When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai's craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. In Kitai’s whole life, he has wanted nothing more than to be a ranger like his father. After watching Smith’s movie, we shall be claiming that human can fly on the sky. Besides, we also agree that space does not contain oxygen. In the movie, we do agree that earth contain gravitational force. Moreover, the love of a father is one of the moral value that we agree in this movie. However, we disagree with some points in the movie especially the decrement of the temperature in the earth. Other than that, we also disagree the function of the video-audio system.…

The Good Earth, written by Pearl S. Buck, is a book about the political and social struggles of China. Since this book was published in 1931, the somewhat old-fashioned style of writing reveals the era of which it was written. Although it is apparent through the writing that this book is a little older, it has a charm that only older books can possess. It is one of the things that actually kept my attention; the old-fashioned charm. The publishing company that supported this book was A Washington Square Press Publication of POCKET BOOKS.…

The Earth is one of the eight planets in the solar system. The planet Earth is emphasized as “the rare Earth” in numerous literatures because of its unique physical conditions and the complicated interactions among all biotic and abiotic systems. Isotope dating indicates the earth was formed approximately from 4.53 to 4.568 Ga, according to isotope used (Allègre et. al., 1995). Despite the precise formation time of the Earth, there is no exact planet formation model that is generally accepted except the minimum mass solar nebula model, MMSN (Canup, 2008). The MMSN model suggested the planetary accretion of the Earth and other terrestrial planets begins with a disc of hydrogen abundant gas and dust, circulating around the sun. Following by a series of collision, small particles combine and collapse repeatedly. The runaway growth slows down until reaching a certain mass (Canup, 2008). The formation process is crucial to the evolution of the Earth because it determines the source of materials which the Earth contains.…

A world with no moon would be much different without the Moon. Without the moon, Earth would be greatly different. The length of the day would be different, the origins of life on Earth would be slowed, and the biological evolution of life on Earth would vary greatly. But there would still be life on Earth, and many things on Earth would remain the same. Lunar tides are perhaps the most obvious effect of the Moon on Earth.…

As far as science knows the planet earth is unique in the entire universe. Certainly this is true in our own solar system. Earth is far better suited for life than any other planet, yet even here most of the environments are too hot, too cold, too far underground or too far above ground to support much life. In the many thousands of miles of changing environments from the center of the earth to the edge of its atmosphere, there are only a few meters of habitable environment for most life forms, and therefore, almost all creatures are forced to live there. Although in our solar system only the earth was made to be inhabited , even on the earth only a thin slice is ideally suited for most life-forms…
