Uncertainty In Batman
Many people face struggles that influence a person?s way of being, having unanswered questions, being manipulated, and the question of who am I? Uncertainty is the lack of information to formulate a decision. Though they live in different worlds, Bruce Wayne and Harry Potter share uncertainties about their natures in the battle of good vs. evil, an uncertainty revealed through each character?s relationship with darkness.
Harry?s uncertainty stems from his role in both the muggle and the wizarding world.
First, Harry is dropped on the Dursley?s doorstep in the middle of the night where it was all dark, as a burden to the family. His doubtful identity begins with the trauma of his arrival. Second, as a charity member to the muggle home, Harry …show more content…
(Dark Streaming). This conversation explains Batman has no limits to saving people. However, people did not react the way he thought they would; they were not grateful, but blamed him instead for the craziness. In another scene where Bruce has a date with Natascha and Rachel with Harvey Dent, the white knight, Natascha says, ?Gotham needs heroes like you[Harvey Dent]- elected officials, not a man[Batman] who thinks he's above the law?(Dark Streaming). Natascha makes it clear she does not agree that batman is a hero.
His self-doubt grows and he questions his goodness; his uncertainty will grow throughout the film and will continue in the trilogy. One villain; a psychotic anarchist named the joker, has an impact on Bruce?s life and it makes him question if he is good or evil. The Joker pushes for a reaction from Batman because he believes there is no difference between the two of them. In the interrogation scene, the Joker tries to manipulate Batman, who asks ?The why do you want to kill me?? The Joker responds, ?Kill you? I don?t want to kill you ? You. Complete. Me.? (Dark Streaming). At this point, Batman begins to wonder more deeply about his nature, good or evil. The Joker casts a shadow over Batman that will follow him with many other villains he will
