Harriet Beecher Stowe really captured the life of an American Slave.
Even though some thought it did not give a definite and accurate view of a slave, it showed life events and how cruel and horrible life was. It defines the mistreatment of people who did not deserve mistreatment and the actions that man could do to man. This book gives readers an insight of the situations they were put in and that slaves were people too. Stowe has made an impact on many people’s lives from this book and made them see things that they may not have seen before. I know I have definitely taken this era for granted, and I know see that times were hard but always have hope, like Uncle Tom. Readers also view that not all white men believed the thought of slaves as pure property. There was actually people at this time who treated slaves as family and equals. This novel really shared a story of true impacts and novelty that Uncle Tom plays. Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a great book that should be shared to anyone, and I definitely recommend it. Is has changed the views of slavery and made people see the sickness that was present. Stowe’s goal was to show people, her readers, what a curse slavery was to our nation and she was accomplished it. Stowe knows firsthand about slavery. She has been exposed to slavery since she was young and many times before. Stowe has been given personal evidence of the unlawful acts of slavery, and has even heard stories from former enslaved people. She used the information that she was given and her own encounters to write such a riveting novel of the acts of
slavery.
