Throughout the film, there is a scene in particular called “Peas and Carrots” the sound effects used was Forrest as the commentator. A commentator which is “a voice (the person speaking may be wither seen or unseen) commenting on the action of the film” (Breton) describing the first time Jenny and he met and how he instantly fell in love as he describes their everyday lives as kids. Background music was also apparent in this scene where when he first saw Jenny the music was low and emotional and then as he began to be her friend and do things together it got more intensifying. This scene is particular shows how throughout the film Forrest has always had a love for Jenny, even as a kid and the sound effects used in it helped the audience connect on an emotional level. This was just the beginning of their friendship and Forests childhood sweetheart. Forrest’s states in the film, “You know it's funny what a young man recollects? 'Cause I don't remember bein' born. I don't recall what I got for my first Christmas and I don't know when I went on my first outdoor picnic. But I do remember the first time I heard the sweetest voice in the wide world” (Movieclips.)
