Under the Rice Moon makes a point using a bird who wants to be free. Through this birds situation, the author shows that it’s song can only be understood by the individual who doesn’t have any money or time spent on it. It also shows how busy someone can get, so that they stop listening or caring about the ones around them. This story also makes you realize and value your freedom. Though most of us were born with it, some aren’t, and the ones who have it should be grateful.

The theme of “Catch the Moon” by Judith Ortiz Cofer is after losing a loved one, people can overcome the bitterness that develops by working and helping others. First in the story, the narrator says that Luis would “build a display wall for his father. People would be able to come into the yard and point to whatever they wanted.” This supports the theme because although Luis started by being sneaky, troublesome, selfish, and fearless, he changes into a kind, thoughtful, motivated, caring, and helpful person.…

Australian theatre practitioners use various performance styles, techniques and dramatic conventions to help portray their ideas to their audiences and make them feel a particular way to the ideas presented in a play. Without the use of these styles, techniques and conventions it wouldn’t be possible for the practitioners to emphasise their ideas. In the play ‘Ruby Moon’ Matt Cameron the playwright uses various techniques such as symbolism, transformational acting, cyclical and episodic dramatic structure and a fractured fairytale.…

The story revolves around a compulsively jealous husband, the unnamed first-person narrator of the story. The story opens abruptly, with the narrator sitting on a perch in his cage in a pet store in Houston, having been reincarnated somehow as a yellow-nape Amazon parrot. One day, his former wife, accompanied by what he assumes must be her current lover, enters the store and is drawn to him. She buys him and takes him back to their former home, where she keeps him in a cage in the den. Despite his physical and, to a degree psychological, transformation, he is still jealous of his former wife's latest lover. He is limited, however, to taking out his resentment on the bird toys in his cage.…

The individual experiences found in Australian society are the fear of the unknown, grief and loss, life in a ‘cul-de-sac’ and identity. Matt Cameron explores these ideas in the play Ruby Moon through the use of cyclical structure, Absurd and Artaud theatre and transformational acting as well as the elements of production to convey the experiences to the audience. The prevailing cultural, historical and political contexts in Australia influenced him to write the play, which is a fusion of non-realism and realism.…

Andrew Harlan critiqued, “The Moon We Left Behind” to inform the readers of Charles Krauthammer’s efforts to continue space exploration. Harlan starts off his essay with a statement from President John F. Kennedy to put a man on the moon before the decade was over. The writer then continues with the introduction of Mr. Krauthammer and his accomplishments. This critique serves as an informative essay to get to understand the passion Mr. Krauthammer has about space. In the fifth paragraph we can see just that, “Charles Krauthammer offers a powerful, inspiring defense of the American manned space program; and it’s hard not to agree with him that our voyages to the moon captured the imagination and admiration of the world…”…

Some might argue that the overall message is wise, but it truly is a terrible book that’s very unenjoyable to read. Keeping the Moon has very uninteresting characters and storyline. First off, the characters have very few defining traits.…
