Hence, once teenagers are on their own, they eventually get the freedom they have always wanted. Consequently, some teenagers see this as an opportunity to drink alcohol. Since, there is no older adult controlling their every move and stopping them. With all the freedom an underage student has especially if they are living on a college campus there is no avoiding them from drinking, because alcohol is accessed more easily. Underage drinking is most common when people are in groups for the reason that peer pressure is better spread amongst many people.
The majority of college campuses have fraternities and sororities that throw parties in which usually free alcohol is given out to all students, despite their age. Regardless of the numerous types of ways underage drinking is spoke about on campuses it still happens. Thus meaning if an underage student sees everyone else drinking alcohol at a party he or she will most likely feel the need to drink as well. Therefore, not wanting to feel left out from having fun with their friends and peers. Others may have the idea that they will not look cool in front of them if they do not drink alcohol. In addition, binge drinking is very common in college, because of students peer pressuring one another to drink as much as they can within a small amount of time. Since, many college students throw countless parties, peer pressure is spread more frequently causing underage drinking to
occur. Unfortunately, life is not perfect nor easy and can get really difficult at times which may result for one to have some personal problems. Entering adulthood can be scary, especially when one is far from home and has to become independent. With this in mind, one may face various personal problems such as family, financial or emotional problems. Therefore, some people may think that alcohol is the solution to those personal problems. Alcohol can temporarily allow that person to forget about their problems or make them feel a different type of way. If a college student is having a stressful time with school, they may think that drinking will help them relieve their stress. The same thing would happen if a teenager just had a terrible break up with their partner and think that alcohol can make them feel better and forget that person. However, they are wrong, because underage drinking results in worse repercussions. Regardless of the laws towards alcohol and age requirement to consume it, underage drinking still occurs. Alcohol has all sorts of effects that are commonly seen by society, but when it comes to the causes of underage drinking they may vary and can be unknown to us. However, underage drinking can sometimes by caused by all the freedom a person receives after just entering adulthood. Peer pressure is also more common amongst groups at social events resulting in underage drinking to increase. Lastly, alcohol for everyone even underage drinkers may seem to be a resort to solve personal problems.
