To answer this question I thought it best to understand what a role is and what a responsibility is. A role: "the function assumed or part played by a person or thing in a particular situation" and a responsibility: "a thing which one is required to do as part of a job, role, or legal obligation" Oxford Dictionary. So from that I have find that a person's responsibilities fit into their job role.
According to the Department of Education's 'Teaching Standards' of May 2012, one of the teachers key roles that stuck out to me was: "A teacher must set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils"
The responsibilities that fit into that role would include:
• establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect
• set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions
• demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils.
Some of the main codes of conduct that are implemented in my training company include; trainers must:
-Be dressed appropriately (smart, clean, shaven etc)
-Turn up at least 30 minutes before each training session
-have scheme of work & lesson plan present in the classroom and must run lesson as stated or make appropriate changes to lesson plan.
-collect all evidence for the appropriate qualifications.
To summarise the key roles and responsibilities for educators are to set a good example, to provide an appropriate learning environment and promote positive attitudes, values and behaviour.
