1.0 IMPORTANCE OF EFFECTIVE INDUCTION
1.1 Many employers see induction as a waste of valuable time but this is a critical process when you take on a new employee. Induction gives our new employee an objective view of our company, organisational culture, and work ethic, which will allow the employee to better integrate into the workplace.
1.2 Human resources are the most valuable asset and biggest investment we have, and it is currently being undervalued. Recruitment and training are one of our major costs. Therefore we need to maximise staff retention to ensure that this investment is not wasted.
1.3 Currently our new employees join us and are expected to ‘pick things up as they go along’. This gives the new employee the mind-set to adopt an indifferent attitude towards the company, thereby reducing the chances of that employee staying long enough to contribute their full potential.
1.4 The initial impression of a company on an employee usually stays with them, and it is therefore important to make this experience a positive one.
1.5 What happens without an effective induction
