These systems include cell phones, wireless handsets, e-mail, and online conferencing. Internet advertising grows more than 15 percent a year reaching more than 500 million people. It will also transform jobs and careers. They control how you work, where you work, and how well you are compensated for your performance. Information systems help make globalization a reality. It allows for instant communication world-wide. It allows customers to shop at your store 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Companies providing goods and services can reduce costs with low-cost suppliers and facilities in other countries.

The first objective is operational excellence. Companies use information systems to improve how efficient their operation is for achieving very high levels of productivity and efficiency in business operations. Customer and supplier intimacy is very important for a company. When a customer is treated well, they will turn into a repeat customer.
