CHAPTER – I INTRODUCTION
It is a great moment to say our senses of profound appreciation & gratitude to the entire person who have been active in making it a rich experience. We found it to be a challenging task and project that gave us a real practical knowledge to the corporate world and it is almost impossible to do the same without the assistance of people around us. It gives us vast experience to acknowledge SHCIL Projects LTD Company, who has been nice enough to give us an opportunity to do our project and providing us support throughout the project.
SHCIL Projects Limited (SPL) is a Parent body of Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited, which is a single provider to the financial services sector in India. SPL has been started in the year 2006 with the purpose of providing end to end technology services to the financial services sector in the subsequent areas. The main service provided by SPL is Document Digitizing & Record Management by way of digitization. Today every organization every department and every individual is growing day by day. Every sector is booming for e.g. Information technology, Aviation, Textile, Retail, Real E-State and Tourism.
In every sector maintaining and preserving of documents is a big question for the organization or company. Because keeping record of 70-80 years is not easy task for the organization. Keeping of record it means that require space and the most important safety of documents. So, through digitization and record management we can store the documents in a safe custody.

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The benefits of document management systems hinge on their ability to improve your business processes without changing them too much. While one reason to choose document imaging - that you 're drowning in paper files - is fairly obvious, there are benefits to be had across a wide range of situations and industries.

Traditional databases only managed structured information that could be neatly stored in rows and columns.
