Sports have been part of the world ever since ancient time. Both the world and sports have evolved since then, except where women are concerned. Women are still fighting for equality in the world, but one of their biggest fights is with the world of sports. In 2012 it was the first time ever that Olympic had female athletes participated in every sports event. Female athletes struggle with being treated equally as the male athletes. They face a lot of inequality in the world of sports, because they have to fight against criticism of their bodies, wage gap, and unequal representation in the media. Female athletes have to fight against criticism of their bodies from the media. They struggle with criticism from the media for not having the “perfect body” rather than their skills, whereas men are criticized for their skills. By contrast, each men’s player would earn $263,320 for the same feat and would still earn $100,000 if the team lost all 20 game.” Even if the USWNT ( U.S Womens National Team) don’t win the according matches for the year they do not get paid, but for the men they still would get paid some amount of money. The U.S. women’s soccer team has won a total of three Olympics medals, unlike the male soccer team and still are paid less than the opposite gender team.
