By most accounts, Bessie Smith was a rough, crude, violent woman. She was also one of the greatest Blues singers of the 1920s. The road that took her to the title “Empress of the Blues” was not an easy one. It was certainly not one of the romantic "rags to riches" tales that Horatio Alger made popular during her time. For a young black woman from the South the journey was anything but easy, and it would require a special kind of person, and Bessie Smith was definitely that. She was a woman who fought for what she believed in and backed down to no one. She had a boundless determination, which sometimes became a flaming hot temper, and no one was exempt from it. Yet these same experiences and temperament also expressed great loyalty to those around her. The entire range, with all its passion, was expressed in her songs, and the way she sang them.…

In my 9 years of school, there has been one teacher that I really loved and she really impacted on my life by the way she handled things and how she lived her life. Her name was Mrs. Hollenbaugh. She impacted my life because she would always encourage us to stick to our dreams and also because she would take responsibility unlike some people and own up to her mistakes. But she would learn from that mistake and become a better person by not doing that mistake again.…

His theory not only inspired me but it shows me that professors are much more. They give their students not only their knowledge, but also their passion. They get involved in the lives of their students. I will be a mentor to all ages at the college level. Educators and assistant educators make their students feel good about themselves and they help the youth realize and fulfill their dreams. This is one of the strengths that I believe I can offer to any student. The students in a classroom should have a learning experience that meets their needs and challenge their learning skills. As a student grows and mature during the adolescent years; they will become more independent, if they choose the right path in their educational accomplishments. If a student chooses to go another direction this could be a reflection on my dedication and contribution to his or her life. This could also be positive or negative publicity for the school and for my reputation as a teacher assistant. This could be an external assessment, which would be a threat to my career of a successful…

Teachers have a substantial impact on students, myself included, due to the significant amount of time they spend with them. Teachers verse their students on the topic of their expertise, but they also help them grow as people. While learning how to convert mass to moles, moles to moles, and moles to mass can prove useful if an individual wants to become a chemist, the work ethic gained from finishing assignments before their inevitable deadlines proves most useful. Aside from work ethic, students learn how to persevere when faced with failure, how to be compassionate, how to be patient, and how to be creative yet efficient to complete the task at hand. Mother Teresa stated, “Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are endless.” It was those kind words that I remember from each individual teacher I had growing up. I remember spending countless hours learning with different techniques from different teachers. I’ll never forget Mrs. Marie Simcoe, for she was that kind voice echoing endlessly. She was my kindergarten teacher. I remember always wanting to help her and to be just like her. She was kind hearted and soft spoken. She taught with care and did everything she could to get her students to understand without a word of frustration.…
