Unhealthy Eating causing diabetes in teens In today’s society not many teens are aware of the affects unhealthy eating has on them. Unhealthy eating leads to many life threating diseases like obesity and diabetes. The growth of diabetes in teens has sky rocketed, and not many teens knows what a “healthy meal” is anymore. Healthy eating has been a category I’ve always been interested in and encourage many to try it since my grandmother herself has diabetes, and it has changed her life in a dramatic way. Her eye sight started to slowly go away, her health went downhill, and she has to take insulin shots daily to keep her sugar level stable. “Nearly one in four American adolescents may be on the verge of developing Type 2 diabetes or could already be diabetic” stated in Diabetes on the rise among teenagers. When you start eating healthy young it creates a habit that sticks with you. You should eat healthy because you won’t set yourself up for life threating diseases, it keeps your body in shape and active, and you will feel better about yourself when your body displays a young teen not someone obese on the verge of developing diabetes. To begin with, it is important to avoid unhealthy eating because it will slow down your health and your body will start to get weak. Instead of burning off what you’re body ate that day it stores it and turns it into fat. This is where obesity and diabetes comes in. “As obesity rates in children continue to soar, type 2 diabetes, a disease that used to be seen primarily in adults over age 45, is becoming more common in young people”. When your body is not in the best shape you start to feel un-confidence and a lot of teens brake down and get emotional over their body. This is where pathos comes in. Pathos displays emotion and feelings. When you’re not eating healthy and overweight you become unhappy with yourself. When you look good you feel good.
