The current version of Army doctrine is the Unified Land Operations, Army Doctrinal Publication (ADP) 3-0 dated October 2011.

b. The ADP 3-0 evolved from the previous Army doctrine of AirLand Battle dated 1982, Field Manual (FM) 100-5 dated 1986, FM 100-5 dated 1993, FM 3-0 dated 2001, and the FM 3-0 dated 2008.

Unified Land Operations is defined as “to seize, retain, and exploit the initiative to gain and maintain a position of relative advantage in sustained land operations through simultaneous offensive, defensive, and stability operations in order to prevent or deter conflict, prevail in war, and create the conditions for favorable conflict resolution.”
