Outcome 1 Understand the benefits of therapy sessions
1. Different types of therapy sessions in which an individual may participate in includes speech and language therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist.
2. Physiotherapists can advise on exercises that people can do, this will benefit individuals who may have fractured a bone or have aching joints and find it hard to mobilise. Speech and language therapist can advise an individual on the best way to communicating more efficiently and they can help relieve any swallowing problem an individual may have. A occupational therapist can advise on any adaptations and equipment for a home this will benefit an individual to maintain their independence for as long as possible.
Outcome 2 be able to prepare for therapy sessions
1. To prepare for a therapy session I would ensure that there is a suitable setting for the therapy session to take place. I would also ensure that the individual who is partaking in the therapy session is fully prepared and understands what it is for.
2. To make sure that the individual’s preferences and requirements are met, I would make sure that the individual is aware of the therapy session and what it is for. So then the individual is able to express any preferences or requirements that they may have.
3. I will ensure that the environment is suitable, the therapist and the individual have the equipment and materials available. By following instructions I will be able to ensure that I am fully prepared to support the individual with the therapy session.
Outcome 3 Be able to provide support in therapy sessions
1. In order to be able to provide support during a therapy session I would listen to the therapist’s directions and ensure that I provide the support that both the therapist needs and that includes the individual’s requirements and preferences.
