ARIN is one of the five regional internet registries (RIR) that handle IP address allocation. ARIN handles the following regions, United States, Canada, parts of the Caribbean and Antarctica. ARIN manages the distribution of Internet number resources, including IPv4 and IPv6 address space and AS numbers.
b. Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA)
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is a department of ICANN, a nonprofit private american corporation, which oversees global IP address allocation, autonomous system number allocation, root zone management in the Domain Name System (DNS), media types, and other Internet Protocol-related symbols and numbers.
c. Asia-Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC)
APNIC handles the same role as ARIN but for different regions. It handles the Asia Pacific which includes Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and more.

An IPv4 uses 32 bit IP address and with 32 bits the maximum number of IP addresses is approximately four billion IPv4 addresses.

An IPv6 uses 128 bit IP address and with 128 bits the maximum number of IP addresses is approximately 48 billion.
4. Why do you think the world is running out of IPv4 addresses?
The central pool of IPv4 addresses officially ran dry on Tuesday, February 1, 2011. From now on, all new networks and services in the region must implement IPv6.
