1). Describe briefly the person you interviewed and why you chose this person.
The person I chose is an African American female in her late twenties. For the last few years she has been the primary wage earner for her household and spend majority of her days working. She has three children and recently married almost a year ago. I chose her to interview because she been dealing with having to play many different social statues a day.
2). Choose at least two key terms (found in the margins of the text) from Chapter 4 that explains the person’s experience with social statuses and roles. Why did you choose those two concepts? Give examples from the interview to justify your response.
The client occupied several type of status sets that showed her experience with social statuses and roles including being a worker and mother. I chose these two concepts because she played these two roles on almost a daily basis. 3). Which roles (the behaviors, responsibilities, and privileges attached to a status) would the person you interviewed like to perform less often? Which roles would they like to perform more often?
The client stated that the role she would like to perform less often is being a worker. She stated that sometimes she feels as though her job takes all of her energy which leaves her with little time to spend with her children and spouse. The role she would like to perform more often is being able to be a mother to her children. The client stated that her children are getting older and she does not want to continue to have to miss out on their activities.
